The Harris Tweed® Journal

Congratulations Kenny!

22nd July

Our staff are trained for Royal duties!

We are thrilled today to learn that our wonderful colleague and friend Kenny ‘Callanish’ Maclennan has been appointed as Deputy Lieutenant.

Kenny works with us at the Harris Tweed Authority as one of three inspectors. It is his job to ensure that every yard of cloth woven in the Outer Hebrides meets the exacting standards set down by the law.

Honoured with an MBE in 2007, now he receives another honour – to serve as Deputy Lieutenant for the Western Isles. We cannot think of a better man for the job.

Pictured: Kenny talks Prince Edward through the process of stamping and presents the Earl and Countess of Wessex with Harris Tweed® cloth during a Royal visit to the Harris Tweed Authority offices in Stornoway in 2014.
