Cruise Ambassadors Visit

7th March

Our small town of Stornoway is an increasingly popular destination for cruise ships. A new deep water port has recently been built just across the bay from our Town Hall office and the coming cruise season, which is due to begin in just a few weeks’ time, will see more ships and more guests arriving into our lovely town. We are keen to ensure that visitors to our shores get the opportunity to learn all about our unique Harris Tweed® industry and hopefully take a little bit of it home with them too!

It was our pleasure to host an information exchange session with a group of dedicated volunteers known locally as the ‘cruise ambassadors’. These great and giving people volunteer their time to get up early and don their Harris Tweed waistcoats (and no doubt their waterproofs too!) to meet, greet and provide a warm informative welcome to cruise ship guests coming ashore.

We were able to learn from them the kind of questions visitors ask about Harris Tweed and we, in turn, will be better able to provide a great visitor experience for them in our Harris Tweed Story Room.

Be sure to let us know if you’re coming to the island, we’d love to see you once we open our doors for the 2024 season on Monday 6th May. Please keep an eye on our social media pages, or here on our website, for more information on times and how to book.
