It is with tremendous pride that we share this wonderful picture of our friend and former Harris Tweed Authority Chairman, Mr Donald Martin CVO and his family taken last week at the Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh when Donald, or Domhnall as we all better know him, received from King Charles III the honour of CVO.

Donald’s award, a Commander of the Victorian Order is in recognition of his many years of public service, in particular 25 years of service to the Western Isles Lieutenancy, latterly as Lord-Lieutenant for the Western Isles from 2016 to 2022, Chairman of our local League of Friends, Acair and of course as Chairman of the HTA itself.

Our most sincere congratulations Domhnall from all your friends and colleagues at the Harris Tweed Authority, We know how very well deserved this honour is.

Tha sinn a’ sgaoileadh dealbh an-diugh dhe cuideigin a tha nar charaid chòir agus a bha na chathraiche aig Ùghdarras an Clò Hearach, Dòmhnall Màrtainn. Bha Dòmhnall agus an teaghlach aige aig Lùchairt Taigh an Ròid ann an Dun Eideann an t-seachdain a chaidh far an d’ fhuair e an urram CVO bhon an Rìgh Teàrlach.

Tha an duais ‘Commander of the Victorian Order’ air a thoirt dha Dòmhnall airson aithneachadh an t-uabhas obair poblach a tha e air a dhèanamh thairis air na bliadhnaichean, gu h-àraid na 25 bliadhna a chaith e aig sgioba leifteanant Na h-Eileanan an Iar. Bha e na Morair-ionaid a’ Chrùin bho 2016-2022, cathraiche dhe an sgioba ionadail Lìg nan caraidean, cathraiche Acair agus cuideachd na cathraiche dhan an HTA.

Tha sinn a toirt gach meal do naidheachd le deagh-dhùrachd dha Domhnall bho na caraidean agus na co-obraich aige bho Ùghdarras an Clò Hearach. Tha sinn làn cinnt gu robh e uabhasach fhèin airidh air an urram a tha seo.
