We’re delighted to be opening the Harris Tweed Story Room this spring and are looking for an enthusiastic, confident Story Room Guide to join our team for the 2026 season.
The Story Room is a busy, guided exhibition space offering visitors an immersive, hands-on journey into the story of Harris Tweed®, its people, processes and protected heritage. This is a people-facing role, ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling, engaging with visitors, and bringing history to life.

About the Role
As a Story Room Guide, you will lead guided tours throughout the day, welcoming visitors from around the world and introducing them to the past and present of Harris Tweed® industry. Tours run on the hour, every hour, Monday to Friday, starting at 10:00am, with the final tour beginning at 2:00pm.
You’ll guide visitors through:
· A short introductory film exploring the stories of Harris Tweed, past and present
· The history and development of the industry
· The intricate processes within the mills
· A live loom demonstration, followed by an opportunity for visitors to try weaving themselves
· The unique regulations that protect Harris Tweed® and the vital role of the Harris Tweed Authority in protecting the brand.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone who is:
· Confident speaking to groups and leading guided tours
· Friendly, approachable and professional
· Interested in history, heritage, textiles or craft (knowledge of Harris Tweed® is a bonus, not essential)
· Reliable, organised and comfortable working in a busy visitor environment
· Keen to learn and retain detailed information
Full training will be provided, enthusiasm, curiosity and a warm manner are just as important as previous experience.
