The Harris Tweed® Journal

Work experience student

26th November

The Harris Tweed Authority recently hosted a student for a day’s work experience in our busy headquarters here in Stornoway. Jane Lindsay, a sixth-year pupil from Inverness Royal Academy, was keen to witness the day-to-day running of an office within the textiles industry.

Jane hopes to attend Glasgow Caledonian University next year, focussing on fashion brand awareness and marketing. She gained invaluable experience as she shadowed our colleagues, sharing ideas and taking part in daily tasks.

Jane said, “I was made to feel welcome immediately, and was delighted to have a full and varied schedule to work with. The experience was very relevant to me, and I really benefitted from the social media section and an insight into how the Harris Tweed Authority uses its platforms. This has confirmed my decision about my future career as I really enjoyed the day and want to pursue this field. I’d like to thank the HTA staff for an amazing day.”

It was a pleasure to have Jane working with us in the HTA office, and we wish her all the best with her future education and career.
