The Harris Tweed® Journal

Tarbert, 1976

7th May

Instagram follower, Carrie Spencer sent us this lovely old photo of Tarbert in the Isle of Harris. Here is her story:

“In 1976, we were two young Canadians backpacking around the country. My husband bought his first Harris Tweed® jacket here from a lovely old man who didn’t recognise our American Express Traveller’s Cheque, but took our word that it was legal tender!”

Kristina, our office manager adds, “I remember seeing that shop there, and when the road was two-way along the main street in Tarbert. It made life very interesting when you were driving through!”
