Today’s Harris Tweed® word is ‘dealg’.
The ‘dealg’ is the pin from inside the shuttle. This is where the pirn or the ‘iteachan’ sits.
Many islanders have fond (or not so fond) childhood memories of preparing the iteachan for their weaver parents – sometimes for pocket money and sometimes not.
