Word of the Week: Sgeulachd

Gaelic: it’s a beautiful language, weaving itself in and out of island living. It is also still the language of the Harris Tweed® industry. However, it can be a complex language to master. Never fear – aside from the courses already available on the island – DuoLingo now offers online teaching in Scottish Gaelic. Try this link for a 5 minute daily Gaelic workout.

While you’re doing that, we asked weaver Rebecca Hutton – of Taobh Tuath Tweeds – to share her ideas on the importance of some key Gaelic words that relate to the island and the Harris Tweed® story.
