Word of the Week: Spàl

19th February

Today’s Harris Tweed® word is ‘spàl’.
The ‘spàl’ is the shuttle that holds the pirn on the Hattersley loom.
This flies back and forth delivering the weft – the yarns that run left to right across the tweed.
